Anke has created a sanctuary for both horses and riders here through the positive environment and atmosphere. Her passion for breeding is shown through top proven European bloodlines throughout the barn.

Mercenario FC and Melvin

At Avalon Dressage, we believe in allowing horses to be horses. This starts with their daily routine of 24/7 hay and forage, and full day turnout. Each horse has a specialized nutrition plan to suit their needs, as well as 'buddies' in turnout to create a natural herd feeling for them. 


​The training is done with the horse first and foremost. We believe in doing it right the first time, from backing, loading, longing and riding. This requires time and patience. Our horses are worked 5-6 times a week, incorporating cavaletti work, hacking on the North Salem bridle trails, as well as longing. Happy horses is our first priority! This method has been proven to develop our young horses into talented performance horses.

Our horses are incredibly lucky to be taken care of by Luis, Melvin and William. Their attention to detail, thoughtful care and daily support has been a huge part in keeping our horses happy and healthy.

Jannike Gray, Trainer


Jannike Gray has been at Avalon since September 2014. The horses have been in training with Jannike and the mentorship of David Collins. She is incredibly passionate about the young horses here at Avalon Farm.
